Dr. Mark Stevens (b. 1952) grew
up in Miami, Florida. He received his doctorate in English from Florida State
University, where he taught freshman English and specialized in Renaissance
literature. Before graduate school, he taught in Florida high schools
for five years. Since grad school, he has done additional work at Georgia
State University in music history. Dr. Stevens has been teaching at Southern Polytechnic since 1989. He has published in areas of English Renaissance literature, composition, and music history. Just for fun, he does
distance running, reads non-fiction, practices the piano, and raises
two boys with his favorite librarian (and spouse) Shawn Tonner.
